FoundersHugh Sung, Communications
Classical pianist Hugh Sung has been dreaming about finding cool ways to integrate his love of music and technology ever since his childhood days glued to TV episodes of Star Trek, The Six Million Dollar Man, and countless viewings of all the original Star Wars movies. Hugh's musical career has seen him perform all over the world, including recitals at Carnegie's Weill Hall and Issac Stern Auditorium, the National Gallery of Art, and most recently at Wallenstein Castle in Prague, Czech Republic. As a collaborative pianist, he has worked with the likes of violinists Hilary Hahn, Leila Josefowicz, and Aaron Rosand; flutists Julius Baker, Jeffrey Khaner, and Gary Schocker; composers Jennifer Higdon, Richard Danielpour, and Daron Hagen, among many others. His recordings for the Biddulph, Avie, Vox, Azica, I Virtuosi, and CRI labels can be found on iTunes, Amazon MP3, and other major online distributors.
When Microsoft came out with its first Tablet PC's in 2002, Hugh realized that this was the device that could solve all of his vexing problems with paper music scores. He became an early adopter of digital music scores and now works completely paper-free in all his rehearsals, lessons, performances and recording sessions.
When he's not blogging on his website (www.HughSung.com) or tinkering with his tech toys, Hugh serves on the collaborative piano faculty at the Curtis Institute of Music, having previously served as its Director of Student Recitals and Instrumental Accompaniment.
Lester Karplus, Director
A dabbler and entrepreneur, Lester Karplus cobbled together the first few prototypes of the AirTurn from parts at the local Radio Shack and electronic parts store.
Lester has had 35 years experience in product development and building companies around those products. He is also an amateur musician playing keyboard and clarinet.
Lester sees digital music reading as an important evolution, moving away from paper. When coupled with the benefit of a simple page turning device, it is technology that will profoundly improve the lives of every musician.
